More Christmas Ornaments - Boy Friendly

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas & that you have a healthy & prosperous New Year!

Yes, It's past due, but it is never too late to get started on next year.  Here are a few last minute Christmas tree ornaments we made this year.

Race Car Clips:
You will need:
mini race cars (I got these for a steal on black Friday)

clothes pins paint
hot glue

Straw Necklace

Do you ever have one of those ideas that you can't believe you had not thought of it sooner?

Here is mine... the Straw Necklace!

This box of wonderful colored straws was under 2.00!

I cut the straws into 1" lengths (+/- a 1/4")

Mix it with a few beads from your existing bead stash or

 re-purpose beads from a broken/unworn necklace.

I used cross stitch floss for the cording & just starting stringing the gold beads with the straw beads.

I decided to go with multiple strands for this first ones.

Finish off with a clasp & wear!

I cut up a bunch of straws into 1/2" pieces & used  shoestrings for the kids to make necklaces during a rainy spell at the cabin.

Tracing Cards

I'm a huge fan of Lake Shore Learning.  They have such amazing things for kids development. 

I found these Tracing Cards and Stencils while I was Christmas Shopping, I loved them, but I have a hard time parting with $$$ for somethings I know I can easily make.  Well, 5 months later, I finally get around to making a set (One less thing on my to do list!)

For a few weeks I saved cardboard from some of our food containers...

Then, one night while at Archivers, I used their "wall o' die cuts" to create a set of tracing cards/stencils  for Peepers.

 Some didn't turn out so great...

 But they are still fun!

29 cent Hay Bails

Yes, That's right 29 cent hay bails. 

I feel silly even blogging about this craft, but it was a pretty low key weekend at our house.  The Boy & I were both feeling a bit under the weather & with the rain, we were looking for quite indoor activities.

I do have to say this all started with my parents visiting from Wisconsin & giving The Boy an early Birthday present of a mini John Deere Hay Bailer.

What you need:

• 1 sheet of Felt (that's the 29 cents)
• scissors
• ruler & pencil
• hot glue

Mark & cut your felt 3/4" wide strips (12" long)

 Glue

 Play...

 Feed the animals...

 Haul in pick-up...

 Store in barn...

 Haul again... Hours of fun!!! (literally)

Dino Tail

DINO TAIL PATTERN

I pretty much followed the easy instructions, but used polar fleece as she suggested.  Super fun for Peepers to run around in & shake his tail or fun for a play date (I made 2).

Play Tent

Hi all,
I was so inspired by this cute little play tent, I had to make of for Anders. The winters are long & I knew this would be a great creative outlet for him to play in & even have a place to "escape" to.

The instructions are super simple to follow A FRAME TENT . I was lucky enough to find a sheet that works perfectly for this project at GW (the sheet is actually from the Company Store & has cute blue & yellow stars).

I added a bit of extra zing to my version by adding flags left over from the FLAG BANNER project a few years ago (Have I mentioned I'm somewhat of a hoarder?)

It is great outside...

And great inside... we pretend we are "camping" every weekend".

Plus, it easily un-assembles & stores away.
