Sticky Hand Valentine (candy free)

So I found myself jumping on the "Make your own Valentine" bandwagon this year. 

There are just too many cute & creative ideas out there.

I have not seen STICKY HAND VALENTINE'S on Google or Pinterest (yet) so I thought I would share what Peepers is handing out this year.  It is Candy Free since we are still nibbling away at treats from our Halloween bag.

Peepers & I stared out at Archiever's picking out fun Valentines paper... It was fun to see him get excited about "pretty paper".   I cut the paper roughly 6" x 2.25" & punched a few hearts at one end.

 I had ordered the Sticky Hands form Oriental Trading - I then came up with some clever sayings that went with the theme.  

 "High 5 Valentine"   

 "Let's Stick together"   

 "I'm Stuck On you" 

I scanned in Peepers signature (since we have to make 50 Valentines) & printed it all out on cardstock.  I then cut the cardstock approx 4" x 1.75".

 I simply placed the saying & signature on the scrapbook paper & stapled a sticky hand to the back.

Mini Scrap book show & tell

Here are the results from the HOME MINI MADE SCRAPBOOK post I did a few weeks ago.

Peepers really enjoys having his own little book to show off.  I want to make more... one for our Moline vacation & maybe one for the 12 days of Christmas...

Homemade Mini Scrapbooks

Hi again,

Confession Time: I am what you call a "slap & scrap" scrapbooker. I throw a few photos on a page, add a boarder & a sticker or 2 & call it a day.


I do aspire to be a better scrapbooker - So I joined a scrapping club at my work. There are tons for fun ideas, techniques & products out there & it is just fun to see others scrapbook pages.


One tip I learned in my group is to get some photos developed in a wallet size - you can get a few more on a page & tell a better story. Since my scrapbooks are 8x8, this really works well for me.


But I'm left with extra photos as wallet sized photos come in a group 4.
If anyone has a source to get individual wallet size photos, let me know.


So when I ran across these 2 homemade mini scrapbooks, I thought perfect!


Here is a way to use up some of my wallet photos, use up some of my scrap paper & make a mini scrapbook for Peepers that if it got tattered or destroyed, I still have my "good"  scrapbook. It could be a fun gift for someone Or Peepers could even help make his own.

Tracing Cards

I'm a huge fan of Lake Shore Learning.  They have such amazing things for kids development. 

I found these Tracing Cards and Stencils while I was Christmas Shopping, I loved them, but I have a hard time parting with $$$ for somethings I know I can easily make.  Well, 5 months later, I finally get around to making a set (One less thing on my to do list!)

For a few weeks I saved cardboard from some of our food containers...

Then, one night while at Archivers, I used their "wall o' die cuts" to create a set of tracing cards/stencils  for Peepers.

 But they are still fun!

Spiderman Christmas Ornament

Every year I make Peepers a ornament for Christmas.
His First Christmas I used Fimo clay & made a hand print ornament. I'm no Fimo expert... In fact this was the only time I've ever used it... so here is a TIP I'll share with you... to soften the Fimo clay up enough to work with it, I put it in a zip lock bag & stuck it on the front pocket of my pants while I went on with my day. My body heat warmed the clay up & made it easy to work with.
His Second Christmas I made a Photo Block ornament.

His Third Christmas I made a Birch Branch Photo ornament.
This year, while we were decorating the little tree for his bedroom, he requested a "Spiderman Tree".

In trying to surprise him , I thought I would at least get him a Spiderman ornament from Santa for next year. I was very disappointed with the selection for a 3 yr old (or any age for that matter). There were hand blown glass ones (NO THANK YOU) or nice resin ones that were $15.oo (Also NO THANK YOU).

So out of necessity, I had to come up with a home made Spiderman Ornament (actually semi homemade, but it still counts in my book).
You'll need:

a pre-made non-shatter proof ornament - I got this one at Target. I like the shape of it (kind of like an M&M) & thought it would be easy to add my idea to the back of the ornament.
Photo of Spiderman (or icon of your choice). I just googled some images & scaled them to be smaller that the ornament
Scissors or Exacto knife
marker - I used a sharpie
Mod Podge - I used Glitter Mod Podge... it is a Christmas ornament after all!
Brush

First I drew on a spiderweb with the marker - I also added his name & year


Then I cut out Spiderman using the scissors & Exacto knife for the small detail.

Lastly, Mod Podge Spiderman on the ornament & let dry.
Super simple & only $2.00

I do have some ideas for next year if he still wants a Christmas tree decorated entirely in Spiderman. We'll see...
